Dream Swans Womenswear Travel Capsule Collection

The Dream Swans Travel Capsule Collection explores how original artwork, print development, technical apparel design, and digital visualization can be combined to create a cohesive travel-focused wardrobe system. Developed from an original pastel painting titled Dream Swans, the project began as an exploration of memory, place, and visual storytelling through the lens of travel.

The source artwork draws inspiration from personal travel experiences, bringing together imagery collected across multiple destinations, including swans from Zurich, hibiscus flowers from Cairo, and tropical landscapes inspired by Hawaii. Rather than representing a single location, the painting creates an imagined destination shaped by memory, observation, and emotional connection. From this foundation, a coordinated collection-wide color palette and series of original print designs were developed to serve as the visual language for the entire capsule.

The collection was designed around a central challenge: how can a traveler build a versatile wardrobe from a limited number of garments while maintaining a cohesive visual identity? To address this question, I developed a coordinated print and color system applied across multiple apparel categories including swimwear, activewear, intimates, resort wear, outerwear, occasion dressing, and elevated casual separates. Each garment was designed to function independently while contributing to a broader wardrobe ecosystem through shared colors, motifs, and styling opportunities.

In addition to garment design and print development, the project incorporates technical apparel development workflows. Technical flats, garment specifications, and construction details were developed throughout the collection, while select styles were supported by original pattern development to explore fit, silhouette, and construction considerations. To further communicate design intent, I created a series of Vizcom-generated 3D visualizations that place each garment within an editorial context, demonstrating how digital visualization tools can support concept development, storytelling, and presentation throughout the design process.

The resulting collection functions as both a travel wardrobe and a case study in multidisciplinary apparel design. By combining original fine art, surface pattern development, technical design, patternmaking, and emerging visualization technologies, the project demonstrates an approach to collection building that balances creative storytelling with product development strategy, creating a unified system capable of extending across categories while maintaining a distinct visual identity.
